Winslow Homer (February 24, 1836 – September 29, 1910) was an American landscape painter and illustrator, best known for his marine subjects. He is considered one of the foremost painters of 19th-century America and a preeminent figure in American art in general. Largely self-taught, Homer began his career working as a commercial illustrator. He subsequently took up oil painting and produced major studio works characterized by the weight and density he exploited from the medium. He also worked extensively in watercolor, creating a fluid and prolific oeuvre, primarily chronicling his working vacations. I am beyond thrilled to have this rare first edition copy of "The Girl Who Ran for President"! I had never heard of Belva Lockwood, neither has anyone else I know. I loved learning about her story and received this book quickly which was a bonus. It was packaged well which I appreciated - the seller put in the extra effort to assure I received the book as described. The price was on point for the item and I'm so happy to add it to my bookcase.
