Circa 1890. Purchased in London in 1968 A fantastic 19th century ladies stationary chest. Of a superior quality build with an updated lock and key installed, which is delicate but functional! Has initials embossed onto top, we think it’s G.J.A. and the maker of the box is embossed on base “D.A. Anderson, Arcade Edinburgh” Depth: 7.25” Height: 9.5” Width: 12.25” The box looks pretty much unused and has been very well looked after. The fitted interior has: Fold down writing slope with underside storage. Hard writing boxes for minimal damage to box during writing. Automatic opening wooden drawer when the writing slope is folded down for glass inkwell. The original leather bound matching notebook that fits in the back compartment. Three small storage drawers embossed with - Notes, Gold, Silver. A great desktop item for anyone wanting that antique look.
