The new Acts include a detailed Code restricting the rights of slaves and Free Negroes, passed after the Nat Turner insurrection. The laws prohibit their rebellious instruction, except upon permission of their ministers, and then only by white preachers. A historically significant collection of Virginia State Laws. THIS BOOK IS IN NEAR FINE CONDITION This original, first edition, antique book is in excellent overall condition. It comes protected in a clear, Mylar dust jacket (see photo #3). The book is bound in full, genuine leather, brown covers with gold lettering and lined highlights on a red, spine background. The book has solid binding and has no looseness throughout. The spine lettering is bright. The interior is clean and the pages are in excellent condition with uniform toning as is usual for its age. The book has no writing, smudging, pasteboards, stamps or other markings. The end pages and some other pages have some foxing. It is not an ex-library book. Some pages have waterstaining to the edges, not affecting the wording. The leather has light rubbing, but is in nice overall condition. vii and 584 pages. Overall a nice, original, first edition book on Virginia laws protected in a clear, Mylar dust jacket. This beautiful book arrived today in excellent condition. It was packaged securely wrapped in bubble wrap and placed within a sturdy cardboard box. It is As Described on the website: antique, Near Fine condition with a Very Good dust jacket in protector. The shipping expense was reasonable, and it arrived quickly.
