Description

We are Fussy about our Book Packaging. Check our Feedback! THE MOST FAMOUS AMERICAN CIVIL WAR NOVEL EVER WRITTEN THIS IS THE MOST FAMOUS NOVEL ever written about the American Civil War , the story of a young private in the Northern Army who flees in terror from his first battle - but then, ashamed, he returns to face the Southern enemy and wins a "red badge of courage" , a war wound. It was published in 1895 after first appearing in a shortened serial form and it immediately established author Stephen Crane as a celebrity. He was just 24 and had had no experience of warfare. It is believed that Crane based his novel on the Battle of Chancellorsville and that he spoke to aged veterans to achieve the realism he was able to capture. The work is considered an American classic often prescribed in high schools and it has never been out of print. Two film adaptions have appeared, including a 1951 version directed by John Huston that has also achieved classic status. THIS HANDSOME LEATHER BOUND VOLUME is an Easton Press Collectible Edition and it was produced with the quality we came to expect from Easton. Its leather cover is dyed light brown with an impressed gilt design extending to the four-hubbed spine. The muir silk end pages are in scarlet as is the sewn-in ribbon page marker. The page ends are gilded for appearance as well as page protection and there are numerous illustrations by the artist John Steuart Curry . A previous owner's bookplate could not be removed and we covered it with an unused bookplate for use if desired (see picture above) Publisher: The Easton Press Fiction: Classic US Civil War Novel + All books sold by Mackie Books are cushioned in bubble-wrap. Excellent Ebayer! Great communication, extremely well packaged (bubble wrap, fragile sticker on the outside, clean well packed box). Fast shipping and item described exactly with clear pics on the item from bidding.
