Lang who died in 1912, was a Scottish writer - novelist, poet and critic - but he did not actually write the fairy stories; rather he collected them from various sources with his wife and other helpers doing much of the translating and rewriting. This collection, selections from The Blue Book , contains some of the best-loved stories of children's fiction - Aladdin and his lamp, Puss in Boots , Jack the Giant-killer , Dick Whittington and others.
