Description

Unusually beautiful book. measures about 9" x 6". The leather binding is exquisite. There is a gorgeous grain in the leather over board. The gold gilded pages are filled with the complete works of poet John Greenleaf Whittier, printed in 1891 by Riverside Press. Many illustrations throughout with tissue protection and we do not find any foxing on the pages. Wonderful condition for its age. See pictures, please. It would make a wonderful addition to your collection or as a thoughtful gift for someone who appreciates fine literature. Five raised spine hubs, gold lettering, and, the fine leather binding. The inscription shows it was a prize gift from Columbia Grammar School to Carl Gustav(e) Amend, who later had a successful business in Pennsylvania before relocating to Brewster Village, New York in Putnam County. Don't miss the chance to own and display this gorgeous piece of history!

This stunning antique book is a true treasure—the rich leather binding with its beautiful grain and gold-gilded edges gives it an elegant, timeless feel. Inside, Whittier’s complete works are beautifully preserved with crisp pages, delicate illustrations, and protective tissues, showing no foxing despite its age. The craftsmanship is remarkable, and it’s in fantastic condition for being over 130 years old. Perfect for collectors or as a special gift for poetry lovers. The photos don’t do it justice—it’s even more gorgeous in person!
