Description

Franklin Library leather edition of Virgil's "The Aeneid," In the Verse Translation of JOHN DRYDEN, a Limited edition, one of the 100 GREATEST BOOKS OF ALL TIME series, published in 1975. Bound in black leather with a red insert on the spine, the book has scarlet red silk end leaves, satin book marker, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, hubbed spine, gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE Condition. Publius Vergilius Maro, who lived from 70 BC – 19 BC, was an ancient Roman poet. "The Aeneid" follows the Trojan refugee Aeneas as he struggles to fulfill his destiny and arrive on the shores of Italy. The first six books tell the story of Aeneas's wanderings from Troy to Italy, and the poem's second half tells of the Trojans' ultimately victorious war upon the Latins. On the Mediterranean Sea, Aeneas and his fellow Trojans flee from their home city of Troy, which has been destroyed by the Greeks. They sail for Italy, where Aeneas is destined to found Rome. As they near their destination, a fierce storm throws them off course and lands them in Carthage. DIDO, Carthage’s founder and queen, welcomes them. Aeneas relates to Dido the long and painful story of his group’s travels thus far. Aeneas tells of the sack of Troy that ended the Trojan War after ten years of Greek siege. After Aeneas leaves Dido, she commits suicide. 464 pages. I offer Combined shipping in U.S.

Quite the surprised, at first I thought I ordered something from a pet shop because of the box turns out to be my order xD. My books were well packaged no noticeable box damage internally and externally. They were as described in the listing and shipped promptly in a 2 weeks window. Would recommend seller.
