Samuel Langhorne Clemens, who lived from 1835 – 1910, and better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist, reared in HANNIBAL, MISSOURI. "When I was a boy, there was but one permanent ambition among my comrades in our village on the west bank of the Mississippi River. That was, to be a steam-boatman. We had transient ambitions of other sorts, but they were only transient. When a circus came and went, it left us all burning to become clowns; the first negro minstrel show that came to our section left us all suffering to try that kind of life; now and then we had a hope that if we lied and were good, God would permit us to be pirates. These ambitions faded out, each in its turn; but the ambition to be a stream-boatman always remained." Once a cheap, gaudy packet arrived upward from St. Louis, and another downward from Keokuk. Before these events, the way was glorious with expectancy; after them, the day was a dead and empty thing. Not only the boys, but the whole village, felt this. . ." During the two and a half years of my apprenticeship, I served under many pilots for it was not always convenient for Mr. Bixby to have me. The Pennsylvania man was "middle aged, long, slim, bony, smooth-shaven, horse-faced, ignorant, stingy, malicious, snarling, fault-finding, mote-magnifying tyrant." "Whenever Captain Seller approached a body of gossiping pilots, a chill fell there and talking ceased." In describing the Mississippi River Twain wrote: "The majestic bluffs that overlook the river charm one with the grace and variety of their forms." 472 pages. I offer combined shipping.

Quite the surprised, at first I thought I ordered something from a pet shop because of the box turns out to be my order xD. My books were well packaged no noticeable box damage internally and externally. They were as described in the listing and shipped promptly in a 2 weeks window. Would recommend seller.
