James Augustine Aloysius Joyce, who lived from 1882 ā 1941, was an Irish novelist and poet. He contributed to the modernist avant-garde and is regarded as one of the most influential and important authors of the 20th century. 'Dubliners" was regarded by Joyce as a moral chapter in the history of his country. The focus is on men and women who lead unromantic, everyday lives. The stories range from childhood and adolescence to maturity and public life. Joyce said: "I always write about Dublin," because if I can get to the heart of Dublin, I can get to the heart of all the cities of the world."
