Bound in blue leather, the book has French moire silk end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, hubbed spine, satin book marker, gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition. Henry David Thoreau, who lived from 1817-1862, was born in CONCORD, Massachusetts, graduated from HARVARD in 1837, and later taught school. Thoreau built himself a hut where he lived from July 4, 1845, to Sept. 1847. Thoreau once spent the night in the Concord jail because he refused to pay taxes! "A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers" is an account of Thoreau's with the chapters titled for the days of the week: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. 401 pages, including a Source of Quotations.
