Franklin Library leather edition of "The Collected Poems of Wallace Stevens," a Limited edition, one of the 100 GREATEST MASTERPIECES OF AMERICAN LITERATURE series, published in 1982. Bound in burgundy leather, the book has moire silk end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, a satin book marker, gold gilding on three edges---in FINE condition. Wallace Stevens, who lived from 1879-1955, was an American modernist poet. Born in Pennsylvania, he graduated from HARVARD and New York Law School. Stevens spent most of his life working as an insurance agent in Hartford, Connecticut. He was awarded the PULITZER PRIZE for Poetry in 1955. Some of his major poems included "Harmonium," "Transport to Summer," "The Man with the Blue Guitar," "The Auroras of Autumn," "Disillusionment of Ten O' Clock," "The Idea of Order at Key West," "Sunday Morning," "The Irish Cliffs of Moher," "Anything is Beautiful If You Say It Is," "Peter Quince at the Clavier," "The Snow Man," "Anecdote of the Jar," and my favorites: "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird," and " A High-Toned Old Christian Woman." 468 pages, including an index of First Lines---a FINE book!
