Folio, 2 Vols., Victorian calf sometime neatly rebacked, decorative gilt spines with contrasting tawny & green Morocco double lettering pieces, marbled endpapers; pp. x ii + (i i) + xiv , (iv) 752 + xiii; 17 copperplates of arms; joints rubbed & corners marked, some foxing but a handsome set. First published in 1764, this is the best edition of Douglas's "Authentic and esteemed work" (Lowndes). The editor was Scott's "honest John Wood" (d.1838) , the remarkable deaf and dumb antiquary.
