This antique book from the 1920s were first issued in genuine Leather. Due to the war effort and needing the Leather for helmets it was replaced with latex coated canvas with interior flocking. Brittle covers and pages are typical as well as the bodies coming detached from their sleeves. Originally sold mail order,advertised in popular magazines, included in Whitman candy boxes,sold at Woolworths. All these at 10 cents a copy. Eventually bought by Robert Haas and last new editions at 1925. The publishing through a winding trail led to the creation of Random house.
