If you're looking for a book with some real history, this is it! Written in Dutch, this book has, "Boekverkooper over de Vismarkt, 1721" printed on the very bottom of the title page; a former owner has written their name here along with a smudged date of 17XX, possibly 1724 or 1794. A later owner has written their name and a number on both cover and first page, possibly 1823. A third person has handwritten something on the spine, although this is faded and undated. Think of all the hands this has passed through! Well made and lovingly cared for over the years, the yellowed cover appears to be a fine and smooth leather, possibly kid, peeling up on the inside edges but with no cracks outside of the hinge; visible stitching holds the binding tight still. Pages and covers both seem very well held in place. The pages have some ink transfer, darkening, waving, and staining as should be expected of a bible of such advanced age, but are fully legible and, along with the binding, in good enough condition to be easily readable for the gentle reader. No crumbling pages here! The book measures approximately 6 5/8" wide, 8 1/8" tall, and about 3" thick when sitting naturally.
