Andersen's Stories and Tales, Vol. II, H.O. Honghton & Co. (1870). Companion volume to the first, entitled "Wonder Stories Told for Children". This very RARE original edition includes extensive and detailed notes from the author's own journals, describing the origin and succession of many of his best-loved stories. This 150+ year old book shows significant signs of age and wear, including some deterioration of the leather-bound cover, foxing and staining on most of the pages, and creases in the hinges. The binding is secure however; the text is readable, and the detailed illustrations are fairly clear. The publisher's date stamp appears on one page, but there are no other ink or pencil markings.
