ANTQ_American Art & Art Collections_2 Vols_Walter Montgomery_1889_Good Published in 1889 by The American News Co, this 2-volume set of large (12" x 9-1/2") heavy (15 lbs) brown leather-bound books is in good condition for their age, all page-ends gold gilt, shiny gold gilt title and decorative artist palette motif on front cover, gold gilt title and volume number on spine. Scuffing and wear on corners and edges of both volumes. The leather on Vol II is starting to crack along the front gutter where the front board meets the spine but feels completely solid. The top and bottom spine of Vol II has some material loss also. Books have no writing or marks inside, text-block solid, hinges intact, cover corners worn. Tons of B&W illustrations and prints throughout. The books are "A survey of American art and artists, containing a collection of essays accompanied by many plates of photo etchings, etchings, and woodcut illustrations". Includes sections on artists such as Frederick S. Church, Maud Humphrey, Albert Bierstadt, Winslow Homer and many others. Please see pics for condition details.
