William Makepeace Thackeray is best known for his satirical works regarding English society, particularly for 'Vanity Fair'. He often published under various pseudonyms in his youth to avoid personal criticism. He took up journalism, something he had dabbled with in the past, and wrote art critiques, short sketches, and reviewed books. He started writing longer works of fiction, whilst also contributing to popular magazines such as Punch. In the latter part of his life he achieved greater acclaim for his work and was considered the equal of Charles Dickens. The shipping was lightning fast, arriving in 3 days from UK to US. The book was packaged with extreme care, very important for an antique book. The overall condition of the book is also unbelievable for its age, even better than described. I’ve purchased numerous other books from this seller, and the quality and price have always been outstanding. Great eBay seller. Thanks!
