By John Warner Barber and printed in New Haven by Durrie and Peck. 1836 2nd Edition, 560 pp, 9 x 6”, 8vo, hardcover leather binding. In fair condition, with rubbing and wear to boards. Spine vertically worn down the middle, leading to loss of middle part of title label. Some hinge wear towards front and back. Text block is complete with occasional wear. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Occasional marginalia. Includes numerous black-and-white illustrations and plates, along with a foldout color map of Connecticut which has partially split apart. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce look at Connecticut’s state and local history by the 1830s. By John Warner Barber (1798-1885), an American engraver and writer who wrote numerous local and state histories of places across the Northeast and New England. A wonderful candidate for restoration.     The shipping was fast and the book was extremely well packaged. The book itself is exactly as pictured and although rare books are expected to be expensive, I was able to get a small discount that at least covered the shipping. I'm happy with my purchase, so I can say that it was a good value. I love to find old relics that kind of come full circle to find their home. Welcome home to this little gem in the form of a small book. I will take very good care of you! I highly recommend this seller.

    Just picked up my package from Robin Rare Books and let me start by saying WOW!!! Book as advertised for sure. the value of the book certainly dictated some care in shipping but never did I think to this extent. The packaging was incredible. bigger box than needed at first thought but after opening based on the care and multiple layers of packing It would have survived a Tank rolling over it. Very grateful for you listing and working with me on the book, true piece of history I will cherish
