He is best known for his early use of the realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class life and people. Crabbe's poetry was predominantly in the form of heroic couplets, and has been described as unsentimental in its depiction of provincial life and society. CONDITION In a full calf leather binding. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some scattered light foxing. There is an ink inscription to the recto of front free end papers, dated 1819.
